DX-1009N: an affordable 8-port 2.5G switch and what its optics compatibility tells us

This switch is interesting for its eight 2.5G ports and SFP+ uplink, but the teardown also shows why a label is not enough: different optical modules can behave differently.

What the sample tells us

The source reports: 12V/2A; 2W idle; 7.2W with eight ports; 8x2.5G + SFP+; RTL8373/RTL8224 suspected; G-010S-P and G-010S-A worked, MA5671A did not. These are observations from the sample and conditions documented by ACWiFi, not a guarantee for every production batch.

How to read the hardware

I do not infer aggregate throughput, temperature, or OpenWrt support from a chip name alone. For a switch, separate port count, uplink type, and simultaneous forwarding. For a router, separate the radios, CPU, memory, flash, and hardware revision. When the source does not measure something, I leave it unknown instead of filling the gap with a guess.

Is it a good HomeLab fit?

This sample is worth considering only for the capabilities documented by the source. Before buying, verify the revision, included power supply, port types, and firmware. If SFP+/optical modules matter, test the exact module or consult a compatibility list; one working module does not prove that another will work.

Limits of the teardown

This is an analysis of one disassembled sample, not an independent AIoT measurement. Another revision or batch may use a different PCB, chip, FEM, flash, or firmware. I do not rehost the source images or turn a teardown observation into an OpenWrt-support claim.
